ARTIST STATEMENT
DIRECT RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE METAL, THE FIRE AND THE BLACKSMITH IS WHAT I ATTEMPT TO REVEAL IN EACH FORGED PIECE.
I AM NOT TRYING TO CREATE ANY GREAT MYSTERY AS TO HOW MY WORK WAS MADE. WHAT GOES INTO THE PIECE SHOULD BE OBVIOUS TO THE VIEWER.
THE FOCUS OF MY DESIGN AND AESTHETIC IS THE PHYSICAL CONNECTION BETWEEN THE STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS WITHIN THE PIECE. I TRY TO USE A RANGE OF COMPLEX TECHNIQUES, BUT KEEP THEM BALANCED WITH SIMPLICITY AND DIRECTNESS OF COMPOSITION.
